Based on your pictures it looks like you can benefit from an arm lift, but I don't think all stretch marks will be removed . Always see a board certified PSbest of luck
Thank you for your questions regarding the arm lift or brachioplasty. In your case, from your picture, the arm lift will remove some of your stretch marks. However, I do not think an arm lift will remove all your stretch marks. You should reassess your arms once your weight is lost. I imagine once you lose five more stone that you will have a significant amount of excess arm skin and fat. If this is the case, I would probably suggest an arm lift. During the arm lift procedure, arm liposuction is performed and an incision is made from the armpit to the elbow. The procedure takes about three hours. The arm lift is done under general anesthesia. If you have a desk job, you should plan to take off to work two weeks from work. If your job entails more significant physical activity, you should plan to take off three to four weeks from work. I hope that I have answered your questions regarding arm stretch marks and the arm lift or brachioplasty procedure. If you have any more questions, please contact my office Sincerely, Dr. Katzen
I appreciate your concern.I think most of the strech marks will be removed, but you should tell your surgeon this is a priority to decide on a posterior or anterior brachioplasty approach. The remaining stretch marks can be treated with a combination of Sculptra and microneedling.Good luck! Dr. ALDO
Hello, Thanks for sharing your pics. Arm lift involves removal of skin from medial arm to posterior arm so it can address only the stretch marks in this region. Though the stretch marks in other areas may improve after surgery it may require some non invasive modality for collagen induction. Consult a Board certified plastic surgeon.
I don't think you will remove all of the stretch marks but even the remaining ones look better with the arm lift. The scar will take at least a year to mature.
Thank you for your question and your photos. The stretchmarks which will be removed are the one in the inner aspect of the arm (the technique is based, for simplicity, in the excision of an ellipse of skin and sub-cutaneous tissue and therefore all the stretch marks in this area of skin will go). However in order to establish if you have an indication for surgery and the kind of cosmetic result you might expect, you should see an experienced surgeon to guide you and advice you.Hope it helps.Andrea Marando MDCertified, European Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. After reviewing your pictures it appears that not all the stretch marks would be removed and the ones that left over would be the same. I recommend you find a board-certified plastic surgeon who is a vast experience in this procedure. Best RegardsDr. Michael Gartner
Many thanks for your query. Yes you are very likely to need an inner arm lift ( Brachioplasty ). The four areas most patients want corrected after weight loss are Lower trunk, Arms, Breasts, inner thighs. The skin removal from the inner arm usually leaves the scar on the inside of the arm. However there is some variability here and more posterior tissue can be resected leaving the scar down the back of the arm.So if your stretch marks are in these areas ( cannot see the full extent of the marks from the photos ), then most can be removed with your arm lift. The stretch marks not removed may however be made worse as there will always be an element of tension when closing the wound ( no tension with cosure little improvement). The skill is in closing the wound tight enough to make a big improvement, but not too tight ( as the wounds can open up or have poor scars ).Hope this is helpfulBestMark
Thanks for your question. An Arm Lift will remove a portion of the skin of the inner aspect of the arm with the incision along the groove of the inner arm. The armount of skin removed and stretch marks will depend on the amount of excess skin and laxity. You have a fairly large amount of adiposity of the arms and I agree with your weight loss plan. With loss of the arm adiposity there will be greater skin laxity and It will be possible to remove more skin and get a better result. Often Liposuction of the arms is done at the time of the Arm Lift to improve the results. Combined procedures have to be done very carefully. To discuss this consult with a Board Certifed Plastic Surgeon.
Thank you for the question, and congratulation on the weight loss. Keep up the good work. The brachiolplasty will remove the majority of the stretch from the groove right behind your bicep to about the posterior border of the arm at the posterior axillary line. Unfortunately, it is impossible to remove all the stretch marks outside the borders of the resection area. Surgeons will always try to place scars in the most hidden areas and use the least amount of tension possible to achieve best results.Best regards.
