BodyTite does or doesn't remove fat?! Getting very confused researching body tight and seeing surgeons comments on here.

Question

Does bodytite remove fat and tighten the skin or not?! I thought that was the who point in bodytite or it would just be radio frequency skin tightening? I've also has a consultation from a surgeon who suggested bodytite removes fat (up to 3000cc) and tightens so can I please have some clarification on this. Thanks

BodyTite does not remove any fat but it tightens tissue.  It can be combined with liposuction to improve contours dramatically.

The BodyTite applicator itself does not remove fat, however it is performed in combination with liposuction.  The BodyTite technology uses radiofrequency to tighten skin and improve skin laxity, and in doing so this applied heat melts some of the fat, and liposuction is used to remove this fat.  It is a great procedure for those looking to improve body contours while tightening skin.  Please visit a board certified plastic surgeon to determine if you would be a candidate for this procedure.

BodyTite itself is just the radiofrequency delivery that heats the tissue and "melts" the fat with the delivery.  Most plastic surgeons will then go into the same port site and do liposuction on that "melted" fat.  Hopefully that helps explain. -Dr. Janiga

Thank you for your question. When approved by the FDA in the U.S., BodyTite did not get clearance for suction on the device as it has in Europe and Canada. As a result, while BodyTite will destroy fat by the RF heat generated in the fat tissue, it is usually combined with some form of liposuction. The less traumatic the liposuction the better the tissue tightening so it is best combined with Tickle Lipo, Vaser Lipo, BodyJet, or micro-cannula. By reducing the trauma to the connective tissue beneath the skin, there is better contraction of the fibrous tissue. This contraction, combined with new collagen production, yields contraction of both the skin and supporting tissue beneath the skin.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

The device approved in Europe is different than the device approve in the US.  The device in the US doesn't have suction combined with the device so it has to be done in conjunction with liposuction usig another device.
