I had rhinoplasty on August 4th. The splint stayed in place for almost 2 weeks. My surgeon suggested to keep it for another week. After two days it felt little bit loose. Two days after that, it completely came off, I tried to put it again in its place. Is it going to affect the results?? (I have appointment to see my surgeon tomorrow)

Answer: Splint Thank you for your question. You should be fine. Every surgeon has their own preference. I take the splint off my patients after 1 week usually. If it fell off on its own (which is common after about a week), you shouldn't worry. It will not affect the results. All the best!

Answer: Nasal splint following rhinoplasty Thanks for your question. External splints are used to protect the nasal dorsum, limit swelling, and keep the nasal bones where they were placed during your surgery. I generally want my patients to keep it on for at least a week, but it varies depending on the patient. Unfortunately they can fall off! This is particularly true for patients with oily skin or who live in hot climates where they sweat a lot. If the splint falls off early, I advise my patients to replace it and try to use tape to keep it in place. It probably won't affect the results, but be sure to check in with your surgeon. They probably have special glue in their office that will help keep the splint in place if desired. Good luck.
