I had a closed rhinoplasty. I used to have a long nose and now it's short. I asked the doctor how he made the tip look rotated and he said he placed a columnar strut. Would removing this strut and sutures in revision make the nose back to its original length and shape? I really hate having a short nose and would like my nose back to its original size! I don't like seeing up my nostrils when I look in the mirror :(
Answer: Revision rhinoplasty to lengthen a nose The columella strut graft and suture techniques rotated and shortened your nose. Additionally, removing the bump and creating a curve to the nasal dorsum adds to the rotated/shortened appearance of the nose. Simply undoing these maneuvers will not reverse the results, but they will be part of the process in allowing the nose to be lengthened. Cartilage grafts are need to reposition the tip to create a longer appearance. In some cases when there is excessive overrotation, the presence of scar tissue and skin contraction could limit how long a nose can be made. From the photos you show I would expect that you could get a longer nose if you would like. The use of computer imaging can be beneficial in your circumstance to ensure that the surgeon's and your expectation are aligned appropriately.

Answer: Reverse the result? The main issue regarding lengthening any nose is the skin of the nose. If it becomes too contracted/scarred, it will be difficult to lengthen it significantly. You need to let enough healing time pass to avoid operating in an inflamed surgical field but not so long that scar tissue sets in which can actually contract more and cause further shortening, depending on the techniques performed at the time of surgery.

Answer: Over turned nose as a result of closes rhinoplasty, can it go back to its original position if it's "released"? Based upon the few posted photos I think your result appears very acceptable. But ONLY IN PERSON evaluations allow a better understanding of the issues you are unhappy about.///

Answer: Overturned nose after rhinoplasty If you had surgery recently (six months lot less) the tip may still drop. However if the nose was shortened too much, it will not get back to its original position. If you are past the six month march, I would not expect major changes in the tips angle.Revision surgery can be performed, I would remove the strut, and reposition your nose, both in terms of length and rotation, with different types of grafts.Your current results can be corrected in the hands of an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon, and with an open rhinoplasty approach.Good Luck,
