Why is my transplanted hair growing to be very kinky and dry?

Some people experience the growth of hair with
different texture following their transplant procedure. Your hair follicles are
getting used to their new location. And they contain cells which have become
dormant. What ends up happening is that partial hair shafts are being
manufactured. After about two or three hair cycles, the texture of your hair
will start to look more normal. This will start to occur after about ten to fourteen
months after a hair resstoration surgery. In some cases, it
can take up to two years for hair texture to return to its usual appearance.

Strange looking hair transplant probably means it was not a very good hair transplant.  Unless your donor hair was kinky, extensive kinky transplanted hair is very rare and it may (or may not) be a technical error.  See your doctor for a recheck.

Usually, it takes 12-18
months for the hair to regain its full previous luster/appearance following a
hair transplant. If the follicles were damaged or the sebaceous glands removed
in the harvesting/dissection, some of the characteristics of the hair may not
completely return, but this is uncommon.

The transplanted hair undergo a change in their diameter and texture as they keep on growing. So, they may become normal or may remain like this only after some time. It will be better to visit your physician for a better explanation.

It is one of the possible rare out comes of restoration.  Most of the time it will take on the same features of your hair with time but not always.

You wrote about this the other day and I answered it. Kinky hair happens, in my experience is less than 0.01% of patients once the hair grows. It may disappaear after one more hair cycle of 3 years, or it may be permanent.

Transplanted hair should take on the characteristics of the harvested hair from the donor area.  However in some cases the texture after transplantation becomes different because the grafts were not properly handled during the transplant.  Even though hair transplantation is minor out patient surgery, it is also a very meticulous procedure and there are many different steps involved.  Each step should be planned out and done with utmost care to get the best natural result.
