Wearing a cap right after transplant and travelling?

Question

Hi all, As i will be having my hair transplant (frontal area) done in Thailand and will be travelling around bangkok and nearby cities for about a week or so, is it ok to wear a cap right after a transplant for the whole travelling duration? Considering thailand's hot and humid weather, will perspiring around the transplanted area be an issue? Is it ok to go for tours and outdoor shopping? Besides water activities,any others that i should avoid?

The most dangerous part of wearing a cap after surgery is putting the cap on and taking it off. If the hat comes in contact with a new hair or graft, it could potentially knock it out. Chlorinated pools should also be avoided. No sunburns for 90 days.

Ask your doctor on post operative care instructions.  Wearing hats should be fine but keep your doctor in the loop of what you are planning to do.

best not to wear a cap after a hair transplant- it may dislodge the transplanted hair follicles or cause bleeding
most patients would wear a soft bandana after hair transplant
avoid sun exposure or excess sweating

It is fine to wear a loose fitting hat after surgery as long as it does not put any pressure on your grafts.  It can also protect you from the sun!

When a patient leaves my office, I give him a loose fitting hat. The hat should breathe to handle humid and hot environments.
