Can hyaluronic acid lip fillers be removed 3 days after injections due to unwanted results?

Hi and thank you for your question! While we can use hyaluronidase at almost anytime following hyaluronic acid fillers to revise/remove them, I urge you not to do it right now and wait. Swelling is very common following filler injections and it is very likely that most issues you are experiencing now are related to the swelling and not the filler. Please allow up to 2 weeks for the swelling to completely go down and by then if there are any concerns left, do a follow up with your doctor and do the enzyme if needed. Rushing to do the enzyme when there is still active swelling is never a good idea since it is hard to tell which lump is filler and which one is swelling, and the additional injections will only make the swelling worse. There is also the risk of over-correction or more uneven results. It's almost always a bad idea to rush to remove filler within days following injection. If possible at all, please be patient and wait a few days and you will most likely thank yourself later. I hope it helps and good luck!

I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can be asymmetrical, and last 1-2 weeks after lip injections. Thank you for your question. How much filler did you have put in? 
If it was more than 1 ml in the initial injection then in my experience this will result in far more swelling which will take a few more days to resolve. 
I would not advise on anything to dissolve the filler yet. 3 days after the filler is put in it tends to swell to its maximum and can look quite asymmetrical. As the swelling settles then this tends to resolve. 
Were the lips symmetrical which the filler injection was completed and have they now started to look asymmetric? If that is the case then this usually settles down. If you are feeling lumps - you should massage the area to help soften them. 
Best thing is to go back to the surgeon/ doctor/ practitioner who injected the filler and get them to have a look. 
The problem with using the enzyme to breakdown the filler is:
(1) it is too soon 
(2) you have hyaluronic acid in your connective tissue and so the enzyme can disrupt some of the normal anatomy as well. 
Therefore it is best to see the same practitioner as they will know where they have injected you and can therefore inject the enzyme if required.

Excellent question and I understand your concerns. First of all, if it's only 2 days you may have swelling from bruising and not from the hyaluronic acid. I would wait two weeks to see the final results and then reevaluate. If after that you still don't like the results then it can be removed with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Results and disappearance rates may vary. Please see a qualified injector to perform this treatment.

At this stage, it is hard to differentiate swelling from filler. For this reason I would avoid dissolving the product, let it settle over the next few weeks. If there is obvious asymmetry your practitioner should dissolve the product free of charge. Wish you luck.

Thank you for your question.  Sorry to hear about your experience.  Please be sure to see an expert injector for an in-person consultation in order to determine the best course of action.  Unwanted hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers can be removed with Vitrase.  Normal postprocedure swelling can often cause the appearance of asymmetry and/or unwanted fullness.  It can take up to 2 weeks to allow normal postprocedure swelling and bruising to fully resolve and to see your final result.  Hope this helps and best wishes! 

Yes Hyaluronic acid based fillers can be removed by injecting hyaluronidase if needed. It doesn’t matter when it was injected.

Hello and thank you for your question. Yes that product can be removed with the addition of Hylenex to the treatment area. (hyaluronidase) I generally would recommend waiting 10 days to see if the lips even out but you seem convinced that removal is your only option. I wish you the best. Good luck
