Can lip fillers be dissolved after a week of getting them done? (photo)

I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

Yes, I would get them dissolved and then go to an experienced injector. The placement of your filler isn't right and the sides of your upper lip have been missed completely. 

Unfortunately, it is too soon. Lip fillers can take a few weeks to settle before any adjustment can be done to it. It is recommended to go to see your injector to understand your treatment options.

Hi. I agree with others. Typically there is a significant amount of swelling post procedure. I would recommend you wait 10-14 days for everything to settle and if at that time you are still unhappy then you should follow up with your provider for Hylenex injections. Best of luck with everything! 

There is a lot of swelling associated with lip augmentation which resolves in 2 weeks , often less. I suspect if your injector was careful to inject equal volumes in specific areas the lips will ultimately look even and nicer.

I’m a Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon and Fellowship Trained Oculoplastic Surgeon. I’ve been in practice in Manhattan and Long Island for over 20 years. Lip enhancement using filler is a very common procedure I perform in my practice, and I also often perform dissolution of lip filler performed in other practices before redoing the procedure. I usually take a conservative approach to lip filler application.
In my practice, I usually wait about 2 weeks for fillers to settle. If you feel that the appearance is unacceptable, you can have hyaluronic acid filler dissolved. The filler is dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase. Dissolution starts immediately, but it’s more noticeable the next day as the fluid is absorbed. Dissolution may require a second session to remove any remaining filler.

Hi Elma2121, I usually wait until the swelling has gone down before injecting with hyaluronidase. Though you are in a rush to dissolve, the better practice is to dissolve over 2-3 treatments. All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.

The filler in your lips can be dissolved immediately after treatment if necessary with hyaluronidase.  It is not unusual to have swelling for a day or two after treatment so that should be taken into consideration as well.  It would be best to follow up with your injecting physician for correction and consultation.  All the best, Alexis Parker MD
