Tummy tuck scheduled. Do I need liposuction too? (Photo)

Based on a single picture, you have stretch marks and skin elasticity, especially around your belly button. That means liposuction alone will yield a very poor result. In my opinion, you need a tummy tuck. You may benefit from liposuction over the love handle or superior iliac crest region if you want more contour and perhaps a less boxy look. However, it is paramount that you have a tummy tuck to improve your abdominal wall. Your abdominal wall can not improve without a high skin irregularity risk. Thank you for your question. Each surgeon will have their own protocol in regards to having liposuction done at the same time as a tummy tuck. I typically recommend doing a little bit at the same time and then plan for the patient to return minimally 3 months later for liposuction of the flank and even coming across the front of the belly. I would recommend speaking with your Surgeon and discussing your concerns and plans. Best of luck to you.

In my experience, sometimes not doing liposuction to the flanks can make a woman appear more boxy after a tummy tuck.

You don't appear to need much liposuction, but it is common to do a little bit of lipo on the waistline when needed.

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. Liposuction of the flanks during a tummy tuck is a great way to create an hourglass shape. Discuss with your surgeon to see if this is possible.

You are a perfect candidate for a Tummy Tuck and muscle repair in order to fix the hernia and the loose muscle. Liposuction will be needed to waist and possibly lovehandles to achieve a better contour of the waist and lower back curvature.
A tight muscle repair (3-4 inches minimum) will create that attractive flatness and smaller waistline.
No liposuction to the abdominal skin.

Liposuction can contour your waist and torso, provided you have pinchable fat there.

This can be performed with tummy tuck, should be discussed with your plastic surgeon.

It is difficult to tell based on one photos, but you may not require liposuction as part of your tummy tuck.
During tummy tuck, the excess skin below the belly button is removed and the recuts (abs) muscle are tightened in order to achieve a flat abdominal contour.
I would recommend to obtain an in person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon to further discuss your options and expectations.

An examination is needed to see if you have any residual fat to be removed. Liposuction of the abdomen is not done at the same time as the tummy tuck for safety to the skin.
