I had a tummy tuck I am almost 11 weeks post op.. When I sit I feel like I still have a lot of skin and my belly button sinks in all the skin :( I wasn't too big before. I haven't gained weight either. I know it takes time but I'm starting to doubt it'll go away with time.. I want to voice my concerns to my surgeon but I'm not sure if I'm just being picky or if I should have gotten more skin removed

Answer: Skin when sitting after a tummy tuck From your photo it looks like your surgeon removed all of the skin that was possible to remove at the time of your surgery. It is natural to feel that there is a lot of skin on the abdomen when one sits down, even after a tummy tuck. Everything in the trunk area is compressed when we sit, including the spine, internal organs and skin. If you have no excess skin when you sit, you wouldn't have enough skin to stand straight. I recommend you assess your skin when you are standing. As well, I encourage you to express concerns to your surgeon if you want to. Surgeons generally welcome questions like this from patients. All the best to you as you continue to recover, Dr. Nancy de Kleer

Answer: Will I need a revision? Hello @Cabzairod94, thank you for your question and showing your pictures. It is critical to consult the doctor that performed the surgical procedure. This is because he knows what type of technique he or she used and how he or she performed the procedure. The best course of action is to consult one or several board certified plastic surgeon for more information and options tailored specifically to your needs. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez, MD FACS.
