2 months post-op. My scar is healing well but it feels like there are lumps under it. How can I avoid a scar revision? (photos)

Hello Shantelle,Great question. Than you for your pictures. Based on your images it seems you are healing well. You are still early in your recovery process. It may take up to one year for scar recovering. Follow up with your surgeon as he is the one who is closely monitoring your recovery.n

It may take a year for your scars to settle down, for my patients I have them use silicone sheeting after the incision is fully healed. Discuss your concerns with your surgeon who knows you best. Good luck.

Dear Shantelle112, Thank you for your question and congratulations on your operation. At 2 months in the healing process, you are very much still a work in progress. It is normal for you scars to be raised, red, and feel hard for the first several months. I suggest following up with your Board Certified Operating Surgeon for their specific recommendations for scar treatment. At my practice, I advise all of my patients to use silicone sheeting, as it yields excellent results. Best of luck to you! 

Congratulations on your surgery!  There are many ways to treat surgical scars such as creams, oils, and silicone sheeting.  Please know that these treatments will not yield immediate results.  The products need to be used consistently over a period of time in order to see the benefits.  Some patients also benefit from laser treatments to help improve the appearance of scars.  I encourage you to speak with your surgeon about your options.
