Earlobe repair is a common procedure in our plastic surgery office. I employ a technique that involves removing the excess scar tissue and reapproximating the tissue planes in multiple layers to recontour the earlobe after gauges, torn earlobes, or stretched out earlobes. Sometimes, the same procedure is used to restore contour to a pixie ear after facelift surgery or facial surgery. Gauge correction is a popular treatment. Insurance typically does not cover the procedure in California, but it all depends on your insurance policy. Costs are typically between six hundred dollars and one thousand dollars depending on the complexity of the repair. Pixie ear repair involves correction of the facelift flap and is a more complex procedure that requires anesthesia. Aftercare for earlobe repair involves proper wound care, Plato’s Scar Serum at least twice daily, with repiercing of the earlobe if requested, in 6 weeks. It is best to have a plastic surgeon perform the procedure and help with scars in the post-procedure period. Plato’s Scar Serum, wound care, and Neosporin are used. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian
Hello, I think you will find that the cost varies depending on the amount of work required. For example in my clinic a simple repair of an earlobe torn by an ear ring is $600 plus tax, but repair of a very large earlobe that was stretched by a plug is $900. If you call around to plastic surgeons in your region and specify what needs to be done, they might be able to give you the idea of the cost of the procedure over the phone.
Ear lobe reductions are commonly performed after gauges are placed in the ear lobes for extended periods of time. Our prices are $500 per ear lobe.
Depending on the complexity, both ears could be done for somewhere between $500-$1,000. Costs will be variable depending on location. My guess is that the cost would not be too high in Oklahoma. It a straightforward procedure to do in the office under local anesthesia.
Thank you for your question. The price for an earlobe reduction can vary depending on the extend of the surgery and if the patient is requesting sedation. Typically the surgery is performed only under local anesthesia, in the office setting, and can range between 600 and 1000$. If the patient is requesting sedation, it can be done in the fully accredited in office operating suite. Best wishes,Franziska Huettner
Thank you for sharing your question. Depending on the exact correction needed costs will range from 500 to 1000 per ear. I would see a series of ASPS board certified surgeons in your area to get the best pricing. Hope this helps.
Dear tchristi7,the cost of surgery depends on a lot of factors (type of surgery, number of treated areas, anesthesia fee, surgeon, facility fee, city, etc.). It would be the best to visit or call plastic surgery offices and ask for a price.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Determining the price is tough without a proper consultation to determine the repair required to the earlobe and the anesthesia necessary. Based on your need the cost would fit into a range. I highly recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery to determine what your surgery would entail and ultimately cost.
As with most things in plastic surgery, the cost can vary slightly depending on complexity and setting of the surgery. If you can tolerate the procedure under local anesthesia (most can) then it will save you significant cost. Typical cost in my practice ranges between 500 and 1K. A trust quote can only be delivered after a consultation. All the best to you!
The repair of the torn/stretched ear lobe is a great procedure that can restore the ear lobe to a “normal” appearance". Care must be taken during this procedure to avoid reducing the size of the ear and/or creating a notch/ depressed appearance in the area of the rim of the ear lobe. It is usually done under local anesthesia with very high patient satisfaction rates. Costs of surgery range from $500-$1000 for both ears, in our practice. Best wishes.
