Can I get a BBL if I had Liposuction 12 years ago?

Hello! I really want to get a bbl. I have had lipo before 12 years ago. I have gained most of the weight back since then and had 2 kids. Can I still get a bbl? I spoke with a doctor and he said that because I had previous lipo before it’s not possible. Is that true? Seemed weird to me since I’ve heard of people getting more then one bbl

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. You are a great candidate for BBL and there is no reason why you can’t have it done again. An in person exam by a board Certified plastic surgeon who has significant experience with these procedures will give you the best results. I hope this helps.

Thank you for uploading your pictures. You are a great candidate for liposuction and a BBL. But because you had liposuction in the past, your new results could be potentially affected. When doing any type of liposuction the surgeon is creating trauma. Trauma can result in scar tissue. So when performing another liposuction it is important that the surgeon spend more time and effort on that area to prevent any lumps & bumps from the previous scar tissue. The new liposuction will require more effort on the surgeon's side to ensure great results.

Having had lipo 12 years ago will not prevent you from having a BBL. Fat can be taken from many different areas including abdomen, sides, back, bra rolls, thighs, arms, underarms, etc. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of BBLs annually.

based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a BBL. Liposuction of your abdomen, back and flanks should give you more curves and hourglass shape and fat transfer to buttocks should give you more projection. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Liposuction is a permanent procedure and patients do not regain or grow new fat.

People can gain weight after liposuction and if they do they will do that based on their new fat distribution created from the liposuction procedure.

There are many anatomic areas were fat can be harvested on the body for fat transfer. The torso or abdomen and waist is the most common but fat can also be harvested from the extremities, the back, under arms etc. etc.

Based on your picture it should not be difficult to harvest enough fat to do a BBL. Different plastic surgeons have different levels of comfort and experience doing this procedure. Delivering consistent high-quality results with both Liposuction and fat transfer is more difficult than most people believe it. For that reason the patients should seek out the most talented and experienced providers in their community for these procedures.

Do that by having multiple in person consultations.

During consultations ask each provider to show their entire collection up before and after pictures.  The goal is to see what average results look like not just the best two or three outcomes of their career as well as get an idea of how many of these procedures someone has done.

I also recommend reading all reviews on various physician review websites and avoiding providers for the new significant number of justified negative reviews. The absence of justified negative reviews is in my opinion more important and more telling than an abundance of positive reviews.

Perhaps the plastic surgeon you consulted with simply doesn’t feel comfortable doing the BBL procedure and perhaps it was a blessing in disguise.

It’s wrong to play Monday morning quarterback or second guess other providers thinking process.

Continue having consultations until you feel very confident you found a plastic surgeon who has the skill and experience to deliver the results you are hoping for.
