I am planning on getting a breast augmentation and I've been doing research and came across tuberous breasts. I believe i might have them and if so will it take more than just a regular BA?
Answer: Do I have tuberous breasts? Hello, Thank you for the question. Based on your photos, you do not appear to have a classic tuberous breast deformity but you do have underlying breast asymmetry with restricted lower pole and higher breast fold on the left. You should be a a good candidate for breast augmentation. Implant size discussion and implant selection is one of the most important steps during your consultation with plastic surgeon. The decision-making process depends on patient’s desires, as well as breast and soft tissue dimensions. I suggest that you seek an in person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon in order to discuss your goals and concerns for the best cosmetic results. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. Answer: Breast Augmentation Tuberous breast deformity is a wide spectrum of breast aesthetic appearances related to tight constricting fascia of the breast. When this fascia is too tight (in varying amounts), it can result in a wide range of nipple herniation/asymmetries/bulges and high riding/constricted breast folds with small lower poles. The method of correction is the same in most of these patients. This includes placing a highly cohesive silicone gel implant below the muscle with a proper dual plane augmentation and releasing any constricting fascial bands to permit the implant to exert its effects on the breast. These can be highly challenging surgeries. You need to find a highly experienced American Board of Plastic Surgery Certified Surgeon with extensive aesthetic breast surgery experience.

Answer: Tissue release may be necessary It does appear that you have some mild constriction of tissue around your nipples. This constricted tissue may need to be released before the breast implants are inserted.

Answer: Tuberous? Good morning, Although your breasts are a little pointy, they aren't really tuberous. You are an excellent candidate for a submuscular augmentation with saline or silicone implants, depending on your preference, through a nipple or crease incision. We would determine the exact size and profile when I measure your chest, we review photos together, and you have an opportunity to try on the implant sizers here in the office!
