Is a tubal ligation and breast augmentation on the same day?

hello thank you for your question and provided information as well ... as long as you get an authorization from your doctor, you may be a candidate for both surgery in the same time. But it is advisable to consult in person with a plastic surgeon to see it and determine if applicable

Hello and Great Question.  I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure.  My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel.  I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Cosmetic Breast Augmentation Specialist.
Yes, both procedures can be done at the same time however by 2 different surgeons.  An Ob/Gyn does tubals and a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon does breast augmentations.

I don't personally know anyone in the Oklahoma City area. You can check with your gynecologist and/ or pcp to see if they know anyone they would recommend to you. Both procedures can be done at the same time.

FInd out where your surgeon plans to do your breast augmentation.  If it is being done in his/her office surgery suite, it is unlikely a GYN is credentialed there or if the equipment is there.  You could have the two done at the same time if both your plastic surgeon and GYN have privileges at the same surgery center.  Thus, ask your plastic surgeon your options for a GYN doctor.  

skpoison. It is not uncommon to perform breast augmentation in conjunction with other cosmetic or medical procedures. However in the case of tubal ligation, it would have to be performed in the hospital and your gynecologist and plastic surgeon would have to be on the same page. Good luck.

Hello and thank you for your question. You will need to have 2 surgeons perform your surgery - Gynecologist for the Tubal Ligation and a Plastic Surgeon for the Breast Augmentation. I suggest that you discuss this with your Gynecologist to see if this is an option with him/ her as not all surgeons will do a cosmetic surgery and a medical surgery at the same time. You will also need to place calls to Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in your area to determine the same. In person consultations will be needed with each surgeon to determine your eligibility. Whether or not you have a tubal ligation is a personal decision and should not impact your breast augmentation procedure.  For any of my patients who request a combination procedure particularly with a foreign body like an implant, I usually recommend that the breast augmentation be performed first with the other surgeon to follow.  In this way, I am certain that there is a lower risk of contamination and infection with the implants because the room and instrumentation have not been touched by another surgeon.  Otherwise the risks remain essentially the same as if you were having each procedure performed separately.  Thanks for the question and good luck with your doctorate.

The short answer is yes, however it will take some coordination between the two surgeons. This can often be more difficult than you would think, especially if they don't have privileges at the same ambulatory center.
