The scar is from the superficial sutures that were placed at the time of your surgery. The earlier these are removed, the less chance of 'Train track' scars. I disagree with the physicians who recommend a tattoo. Dermabrasion or Collagen Induction Treatment with a series of microneedling (I use the DermaPen) will help camouflage these scars nicely. It would also help with any residual stretch marks that may remain on the skin after the tummy tuck. DO NOT get a tattoo unless you really want one in this area.
Dear Patient, this is an unfortunate scar, but it can be revised under local in the office. the final results should be a line. if you still do not like it, then 6 months or a year later, you can always get a tattoo ?good luck and consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area,Florence Mussat
The scar around the umbilicus is the most visible portion of an abdominoplasty. Once the scar has turned white it will not change. The key would have been to remove the sutures early. In your case a minor surgical revision would significantly improve your result.
The post op complication as demonstrated could have been avoided by subcuticular suturing... Not to late in my opinion. A decorative tattoo would hide the area...
Ideally this scar needs to be excised ( cut out) and re sutured. This will convert a scar with train track marks to a think line scar. Hope this helps
It is possible to cut out the scar and "train tracks" under local in the office. This will, however, create a new scar. It would be our goal that this scar would heal better than what you had before, but any time you operate on a scar, you end up with a scar. Hopefully it is improved but there are no guarantees.
I agree that your scar can be revised. That would involve excision of the scar and repair possibly using local anesthesia.
Since you're 20 days postop I would expect that cooking and dishwashing should not present a problem for you after tummy tuck surgery.Of course I do not know your specific situation therefore you should consult your plastic surgeon for specific advice as to when you may engage in these physical...
Diastasis is the separation of the rectus muscles. It is infrequently associated with weakness and laxity of other abdominal wall muscles. Exercise will tone rectus muscles and strengthen them, but as 2 independent units. Only surgery will unite them. Muscle strengthening exercises will...
If your concern is primarily to harvest fat and it's not an large amount of fat, then the changes will probably be minimal. But if you're doing it to improve the contour of the abdomen, then you should expect loose stretched skin to remain that way. It may not hang any more than it does...
