Help! Need filler surgically removed. What type of doctor is best for this treatment? (Photo)

Had filler under eyes early 2020. Shortly after I diagnosed w/ SFN-autonomic neuropathy. About a year after started having pain in & under right eye. Few weeks ago I lost vison in my right eye. Hours later it came back not as clear has before.(Saw doctor no known reason) Under eyes have deformity/permanently swollen from filler. Filler was "restylane lyft" but not sure if it was real. Wasn't by a doctor. WHAT type of doctor is BEST for surgical removal? in or around Denver,CO

Hi w.wolfz! I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. I would recommend going to a facial plastic surgeon and dissolving the filler with Hylenex.

If your filler was indeed one of the hyaluronic acid fillers then reversal can be achieved with one of the hyaluronidase products on the market. Providers who perform injections will typically carry one of these products. Be aware it may take several treatments to achieve the desired result.

Going straight to excision may not be necessary nor the best solution. Given that surgery MAY be necessary, I would start by establishing a relationship with a facial surgeon who also performs filler augmentation of the face. That surgeon may have some alternatives available to you, and if those don't resolve the issue, then you've already established that relationship with a provider who can excise this.An experienced facial plastic surgeon, oculoplastic surgeon, or general plastic surgeon would be a great starting point.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you have been experiencing.  HA fillers like Restylane can be dissolved using hyaluronidase.  The injection is done in the office and may require multiple treatments.  See a board certified plastic surgeon to learn more.
