Can filler help these lines around my mouth? (Photo)

Question

Whenever I smile, I get these ugly lines around my mouth. I had a Monroe piercing in my top lip and it seems to look much worse on that side. Can filler help with this?

Hi @MamaJay! Fillers into the nasolabial fold (aka smile line) and piriform fossa will help improve fine lines and deep wrinkles appear smoother. All types of fillers help to stimulate collagen, a skin-plumping protein that you naturally lose with age.  I often use Restylane Defyne or Refyne to treat the nasolabial fold and priform fossa.

​Fillers such as Restylane Silk, Belotero, or Juvederm can work well to treat lines around the mouth, but the best first option is laser resurfacing or deep peels to induce collagen production. Filler can help to soften some of the lines around the mouth by making them shallower in appearance. 
Excision of the piercing scar would also help by removing that distraction from the appearance of your left upper lip. Excision followed by a small resurfacing would likely give the best appearance.
