I feel that my surgeon had made my nose too short. Is there still a chance this could just be swelling and that my tip will still come down and there will be less nostril show overtime?
Answer: Tip drop Dear alli_104, Thank you for your clinical post. Rhinoplasty surgery can be either open or closed. When work is performed on the nasal tip as well as the bridge there is definitely a significant amount of tip swelling. For an open approach there may have been tip support grafts performed and there will be a lot of swelling, exaggerating the projection of the tip. An open approach is often between 9 and 12 months before the tip has adopted its more normalized position, the tissue is soft and sensation has returned. For a closed approach between 6 and 9 months is often needed before a tip will reach it’s final position. I hope this information is of some assistance and best of luck.
