Can swelling return after Vaser lipo if you stop wearing the garment?

Generally speaking, I have my patients transition to wearing their compression garment to nighttime only @ 3 weeks post-op. I do have some patients that elect to wear it longer because they state that they prefer the support and added comfort it provides while recovering. Regarding the symptoms you are experiencing, what you are describing is normal.  A compression garment is designed to help reduce swelling, discomfort and fluid retention after surgery.  You should always confirm with your plastic surgeon, but I don't see that there would be any issues for you to continue wearing the garment

Thank you for your question. After liposuction the compression garment helps reduce swelling, bruising and pain. It also helps to make the area smooth and prevents blood from filling the area where fat was removed. All surgeons have their own protocol to follow with how long to keep the garment on for, We recommend 6 weeks post op. We also recommend having massages to reduce these symptoms. all the best 

Every board certified plastic surgeon does it differently. That being said, swelling is common following your cosmetic surgery. This can last up to six months following your procedure. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation.

 What you describe is normal. Swelling is a temporary state that will eventually resolve completely on its own whether you wear the compression garment or not.  If you find wearing the compression garment is helpful then I see no reason why you could not wear it but to be sure chicken with your provider.  The end result will be the same.  Mats Hagstrom MD

A
compression garment is worn after surgery to control swelling and prevent
bleeding. It does not result in reshaping, but may prevent hematoma or
seroma. Some surgeons recommend use for 4-6 weeks, some longer, some
shorter. Some do not recommend compression at all. Every plastic surgeon has
his / her unique protocol for postoperative care based upon a lifetime of
experience with what has worked best in the past. 
Removal of the garment will result in temporary increased swelling and associated symptoms of stiffness and tightness which usually resolve within several days.
I
recommend you comply with your surgeon's instructions as he / she is best aware of your present clinical status.
