Im going to be getting vaser lipo on my calves and ankles. I'm already thin so it's just that stubborn fat that never changes. Since it is only my lower legs will recovery be easier or what should I be wary of? I wanted to get different takes on this.
Answer: Body Contouring Treating this area of the body with liposuction can be very risky, and is hard to achieve good, consistent results. There are other safer treatment modalities that you may be a candidate for. In my practice, we combine Awake Lipo with tumescent liposculpture, CoolSculpting or Vanquish, Thermitight, and Kybella to customize fat removal and contouring treatments for each of our patients. I strongly recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist who is an expert in body contouring for a formal assessment. Be sure to see an expert.

Answer: Swelling after calves and ankles These areas can have significant swelling following surgery. Make sure to wear your compression garment, keep them elevated, and drink plenty of water! It might be a good idea to get wider shoes for the first few weeks, in case you get swelling in your feet, which is likely to happen. Good luck with your surgery!

Answer: What is recovery like after Vaser Lipo on calves and ankles? Hello, thanks for your question and provided information as well.. I have to say that this area is very rare and difficult to work on, besides that, with vaser liposuction recovery will take 3/6 months depending on the performed area.

Answer: Liposuction of the calves and ankles this area is in my opinion by far the technically most difficult area to treat on the body. As well, Directory is much more challenging than other areas. Gravity keeps the area swollen for 2 to 3 times longer than regul this area is in my opinion by far the technically most difficult area to treat on the body. As well, Directory is much more challenging than other areas. Gravity keeps the area swollen for 2 to 3 times longer than liposuction on other areas. Personally I don't think the recovery will be that different from the use of VASER. Aggressive liposuction regardless of device will make the recovery more challenging. Because the recovery is difficult and contour irregularities, and I would avoid liposuction of this area unless you have severe excess fat in this area. This is not a good procedure for having moderate results or making things look a little better. Other providers opinions may differ. My practice is devoted exclusively to liposuction and fat transfer. This week I'm doing 11 liposuction cases. I typically perform 400 cases a year. I get asked to do calves and ankles about once a year. The average plastic surgeon does PR liposuction about one and 20 cases. Obviously it varies from provider to provider but considering the diversity of the specialty pure liposuction may be a common procedure but the type of numbers I do I rarely see and except providers who specialize in doing this procedure Now that you know a little bit about my background I will tell you I've done in less than 10 cases including cats and ankles in my career. Perhaps there are others who have done many more bad there aren't going to be very many plastic surgeons who've done a ton of these cases. Without experience it may be tempting to believe they can give great results and recovery will be easy because that's sometimes how liposuction is perceived. My patients have told me to pass on that people should expect delayed recovery, difficulty fitting into normal shoes as well as discomfort with wearing footwear. I tell my patients expect recovery to take 2 to 3 times longer than liposuction in other areas. Recovery from liposuction it typically takes six weeks to three months. With this area expect the recovery to take 6 to 9 months. Because of the tight turns and difficult anatomy contour irregularities are common. Obviously more talented providers can deliver consistent better results. Can your provider show a significant number of before and after pictures of this area? How many cases have they done? And if so do they have before and after pictures to verify this. Personally I believe liposuction results vary more than any other plastic surgery procedure. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of choosing the best providers for liposuction. This is especially true for calfs and ankles. I'm not saying you shouldn't have this procedure but you should go in to it with red flags as a baseline. If you do that and find a good provider then this may be a worthwhile endeavor. I can't tell you there are numerous patients who regret having the procedure. That said, I have many patients who were happy with the results, we're willing to put up with the recovery and would do it again or at least are glad they had the procedure. I don't care what device is used to. That is a relevant in comparison to the surgeon either having skills and experience or not. I think that's pretty much all you need to know. Compression garment selection can be challenging as well. Most companies making compression garments don't even make compression garments appropriate for this and atomic area which should tell you something. Compression socks used for people with leg Adema and varicose vein's work great. Another alternative is using his wras. Lastly, leg elevations are your friend after this procedure. You will it without question have a significant foot in ankle swelling. The primary reason for this is due to gravity in the area being the lowest part on your body. Reverse this by putting your feet above your heart and the swelling Will reverse. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Ankle liposuction? Your goal is not liposuction. Your goal is to get rid of the stubborn fat and there is a simpler option that does not involve surgery or anasthesia. Ankle liposuction is hazardous for many reasons not the least of which is that the potential of skin necrosis of the overlying skin is a very real possibility and is the one are of the body where I will not do liposuction.(And there aren't many areas of the body that I have not liposuctioned). The simpler option to get rid of the fat is simply sequential injections of Kybella which will dissolve fat, just like in the chin). I always warn the patients they will get significant swelling from the kybella injections for about a week (just like all liposuction) but because it is at the dependent area of an extremity it always swell more than you would think. The results take thirty days to be apparent and then you can always do it again if you feel that you need more. But I caution that this technique is only for very experienced Kybella injectors and not to be undertaken lightly as ankles are a very tricky place to work because of the blood supply to the periphery of a limb. Hope this helps!
