Can I shave the recipient area after a FUE Transplant?

Question

I had an FUE hair transplant procedure just under one month ago, with 2000 grafts along my hairline. At this point there is significant shock loss which has made the area patchy and unpleasant to look at. I've been gently clipping the area with a small pair of scissors recently, but is it possible for me to (very carefully) use a gilette multi-blade razor to shave down the recently grafted hairs until they fully sprout?

After one month you can start using the clippers on your donor area. For your transplanted area it is better to wait longer.

It is best to contact your doctor about post operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen.You can shave your head when all the wounds have healed.

Yes. After 10 days the transplanted hairs are fully "locked-in" to the scalp. Be careful not to cut the scalp though. Be sure to wash the scalp with shampoo & warm water, before & after you do the "shave-down".

Hi, Thank you for your question.Once you are healed you can shave your donor area, But I do not suggest my patients to shave recipient area at least for 6 month. You can let your barber use scissors only.

At one month after a hair transplant, patients can go back to their regular routine without restrictions, unless their treating physician has other instructions. The hairs are firmly attached by 10 days after surgery so there is no risk at one month of graft dislodgement.

Avoid damaging the skin post op hair transplant. Its ok to buzz the hair short but shaving it may dislogde the follcle (though rare)

At 1 month, you are free to treat the transplanted hairs the same way that you would treat the native hairs. Shaving this area will not affect anything at this stage. It is always wise however to contact the doctor responsible for your procedure for any post-op instructions.
