Hello! I’m a little over 1 year post rhinoplasty. My nose shape has changed and I’m wondering if it is swelling or if this is how my nose is going to look like now? It doesn’t look like how it use to after the few months following cast removal and it has been fluctuating for the past year. I also have this bump on the tip of my nose I’m wondering if it will go away or if it needs to be surgically reduced? They lifted my tip because I had a flat nose, he didn’t use cartilage from my ear or rib.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello! Thank you for your question. As far as I can see from your photos depending on the skin type, edema may remain for 1.5 years, but you have asymmetry in your nose and your swelling appears to be permanent. For get rid of this image I recommend you revision rhinoplasty surgery. It would be better face to face consultation. Best Regards!

Answer: Rhinoplasty outcome At one year, your results are final and are not going to change based on waiting further. The appearance of your nose with constant compression is not an accurate representation of what the final results will look like. If you put a splint and put pressure on your nose for a few hours and then take it off your nose will look different. Constant pressure will reduce interstitial volume in any tissue in any part of the body. If the appearance of your nose bothers you enough that you’re willing to have a second operation then you should talk to your surgeon about revision surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
