My ears look totally different from when I was a newborn - why?

vrina
I've always hated my big "dumbo" ears. They don't stick out, but the helix at the top is missing - there is no curl around the top. It's very difficult to find any surgeon who has experience correcting this issue. Imagine my surprise when I looked closely at a picture of me when I was a newborn. My ears were not big and they were not missing the helix. In fact, they curled on top A LOT. Why would they have changed this much? I was definitely not switched at birth.
