New to lip injections, I had my first filler done today at 3:30pm. My lip appears to have a lump at the top and it's 1am now (check bottom right photo for most up to date) and the lip bump hasn't gone done but it has become bigger. I know it hasn't been long enough to tell but I'm curious if the nurse did a good job doing my (mostly upper) lips? She used a full syringe of Revanesse Kiss. Any thoughts or tips for this after care ?
Answer: Lip injection, lumps, normal or not? Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs. Due to the thin tissues of the lips they have a tendency towards significant swelling after treatment. Smaller lumps and bumps are not uncommon and need time to resolve. I would allow at least a week, but preferably two, to go by before assessing your resultsl. In the meantime consider using cold compresses, arnica montanta and bromelain supplements, and sleeping with a few extra pillows behind your head. Hope that this helps.

Answer: Lip Augmentation First off, I prefer to do all lip augmentation procedures myself, so I cannot speak about your nurse injector. If you have concerns, and improvement is not seen within 48 hours, I would return and ask the doctor of the practice to evaluate your problem. If the doctor is "too busy", get a second opinion. Good luck!

Answer: It is common to have swelling after lip augmentation, which can take up 2 weeks to resolve. Thank you for your question. It is common to have swelling after lip augmentation, which can take up 2 weeks to resolve. You can ice your lips to help reduce any swelling. If you are unhappy with your final results you can have the filler dissolved with an enzyme known as hyaluronidase. Best of Luck!

Answer: Swelling/Bruising/Lumpiness (early) from Fillers I always tell my patients to not love their filler injections for 2 weeks. Swelling is very common and sometimes immediate. It can last 3-7 days and a good idea is to use cold compresses. Cold compresses may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling only if needed. This may be applied for 3 minutes, 3 times per day, for up to 3 days. This is best done with a bag of peas in a zip lock bag. Only apply light pressure to the area but gentle massage might be necessary if the bump is from the filler material itself. Get Arnica gel if you can find some and apply a few times a day as well to help treat any swelling. Avoid any blood thinners. Bruising can also last 1-2 weeks. I don't recommend hyaluronidase this early and wait a few weeks until the swelling has resolved. If it is persistent or you are worried, set up a follow up appointment with your dermatologist.

Answer: Lip swelling following augmentation Thank you for your question. Lips commonly swell following filler injections. In addition to normal swelling you may have developed a small hematoma or blood collection under the skin and/or mucosa. Ice can help to minimize the swelling. Additionally, massage to the area helps to flatten out bumps or contour abnormalities. I would recommend waiting a full two weeks for the swelling to subside and if unhappy with the result return to the physician who performed the injection. Always make sure you are receiving your treatments for an experienced provider. Best wishes,Cody Koch
