It is a bit deep seated. I just got diagnosed with a lipoma on my lower back. It is a bit deep seated, it’s not really visble, you need to dig a bit to feel it. My big concern is that is liposcarma. I know that a true diagnosis can not be made until biopsy is done. But how many lipomas are actually cancer?

Answer: Lipoma vs liposarcoma You should get and follow the advice of a suitably qualified and experienced surgeon who deals with lipomas and the diagnosis of abnormal lumps. (You would not normally see a specialist in sarcoma unless you had been diagnosed with a sarcoma.)Lipomas are extremely common. Some people have lots even hundreds lying in the fat under the skin. If a confident diagnosis of lipoma can be made there is usually not a medical need to remove a lipoma unless they are growing, large, painful or causing other symptoms. Liposarcomas are rare. They can and should usually be diagnosed with scans and a biopsy before surgery.

Answer: Hi. How big is the lipoma? As previously mentioned, liposarcoma are very rare. Some lipomata can be located within muscle layers which can give it an atypical appearance when examined. If there are any concerning features, an MRI may be helpful.
