I customarily remove up to 50 small lipomas in one session with each having a 1/4" incision made with a #11 blade. The lipomas are dissected and extruded, the vascular pedicle tied off and the skin closed with two layers, an absorbable dermal suture and a nylon pull out which is removed in 7-10 days. Scars are minimal and further treatment without 1540 nm erbium laser can further minimize their appearance. We have taken out as many as 80 in a day. I also remove large lipomas as large as 10-12 cm in diameter.
the only thing you can do is have them excised, I would recommend you find a board-certified plastic surgeon who has a large experience in lipoma removal to minimize the scarring as much as possible. Your medical insurance could potentially cover this.Best Regards,Dr. Gartner
hi skuehnis, thanks for you question. You can always have them excised but you are prone to having wounds and scars and often, depending on where they are, the wound can complicate ie. open up if on the thigh or back. You probably have a familial cause, you might also want to talk to your primary care doctor to have him or her rule out other causes such as Garner's Syndrome. it is best you excise ones that are getting too big, or hurt or are just in areas that are conspicuous.Hope this helpsThis answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and cannot be held as true medical advice, but only opinion. The information provided should not be relied upon as a substitute for consultations with a qualified health professional.
Lipomas don't leak out brownish fluid unless it's possibly infected which would be rare. It sounds like you probably have some type of cyst or something else there. I would recommend you get it evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon.Best Regards,Dr. Gartner
I would recommend you call your surgeon because there may be another issue involved.Best Regards,Dr. Gartner
It is always preferable to not operate on a pregnant individual unless it's absolutely necessary. But it could be done if a lipoma was small superficial and only local anesthesia was necessary. It would be best to be evaluated by a board-certified plastic surgeon.Best Regards,Dr. Gartner
