Can you get Kybella if you have fillers?

Question

I have had fillers in my chin to create a littler more sculpted chin. I am looking into getting kybella done. Is it okay to do this if I have already had fillers??? Thank you

Hi Alisha, thanks for your question! Yes, Kybella can definitely be done after getting fillers placed in your chin. Kybella is made of deoxycholic acid, which permanently dissolves fat cell membranes.  Kybella will give you a more contoured and sculpted chin and will compliment the fillers that were placed in your chin.  You may need more than one treatment of kybella for full results. I recommend seeing an experienced injector for more information. Best of luck!

The combination of filler and Kybella is beautiful to redefine the chin and jawline. I use it often; it is very safe and effective. The Kybella targets fat cells, and the filler is undisturbed. To ensure you are receiving the highest level of care, seek out a modernly trained, new-school dermatologic surgeon, oculoplastic surgeon, facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who is board certified and fellowship trained in one of these “core four” cosmetic specialties. Membership in organizations like the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery help to identify a highly trained surgeon.

Kybella and fillers are a great combination -- your Kybella injection will not disrupt the fillers that you already have, and the two treatments together are very likely to give you the fully-sculpted look you seek. Be sure to familiarize yourself with what to expect from Kybella before you choose this treatment -- it can take a few weeks for your results to settle in. You will also experience some initial swelling from Kybella that may cause you to feel puffy, which can be disheartening after you have already had fillers to help sculpt the area -- rest assured that this will subside soon. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area. An in-person evaluation and thorough discussion of your options will help you learn more about Kybella and what the treatment may be able to do for you. I hope this helps!

Kybella and fillers can certainly compliment each other to achieve desired results.  Contouring would be from filler to enhance volume in areas of loss and Kybella for removal of chin fat.  Expect and be prepared for swelling of your chin and neck area for some days afterward especially with the initial treatment.  A few treatments are usually required for best results.  The filler will not be removed by Kybella.

Thank you for your question.  Kybella can certainly be paired with other fillers.  It can be an excellent compliment to sculpt underneath the chin and jawline to help remove excess fatty tissue.  It may require 2 -3 treatments in most cases.  We use Kybella with trusculpt in our office to receive the most desired outcome.  Best wishes.

Usually the Kybella and other injectables are used in different areas of the face and neck, so there is no concern for them being used at the same time. Kybella is approved for use under the chin and jaw line and melts away the excess fat, where as injectables are used on the face to help fill hollows in places where there once was fat.
