Is filler appropriate for use in the jaw line and for a weak chin?

Hello, I am considering getting Juvéderm Voluma for my weak chin and to strengthen my jawline. I have seen plenty of before and after photos that look decent but I would like to know how it feels to the touch. Is the additional volume stiff and hard similar to bone or is it like movable soft tissue? I am hoping its stiff. If not, is there some other filler that is stiffer? Thanks

Hello.  Fillers are excellent options to change the shape of your jaw, and enhance your chin projection.  A filler like Voluma can last up to two years.  Radiesse is another good option for jaw shaping.  These fillers are soft, but you can feel them.  But they won't be firm like bone.  The "permanent" option would be using implants.  These you can feel.  I put "permanent" in quotes because it is possible to remove these implants if for some reason you're not happy with them.  Trying fillers to get a sense of how your new chin and jaw will look is not a bad option.  Make sure you see a board certified doctor with experience using fillers.  Take care.

Facial fillers (voluma, restylane, juvederm) and Sculptra can be used to augment the chin. This will allow you to try on the look before committing to a more permanent option like implants and/or fat. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Great question. Hyaluronic acid filler (like Juvederm Volume you mentioned) is generally soft. Typically you would not be able to tell it's there by feel. More permanent jawline augmentation can be done with PMMA or implants. These would feel more like you have increased your actual jaw bone volume. They are also more permanent in nature. Thank you for your question. Personally, I prefer Restylane® Defyne for better sculpting and restoration natural look. Also, you should look into the fat transfer. Results are much more superior to enhance(redefine)  the chin area and strengthen your jawline.

Thanks for your question. I love chin filler for a “weak” or under bite chin. It can dramatically change ones profile. I also filler like it in a mature chin to minimize dimpling. The product should be stiff as the filler is injected onto bone. However depending on how “sharp” or angular you like the shape of the jaw line you could go with even stiffer product. I find anatomy of an Asian face can handle sharper jaw and chin projection. Hope that helps. Juvaderm Voluma would be a good choice along with Restalyn RH4 or TEOsyal Ultradeep

jaw line and chin are great places to add filler.. I use bellafill for this as its the longest lasting filler and to me the thickest.. as far as "feel", i think it feels natural.. I dont want you to feel the filler.. i want it to look and feel like normal skin and bone

Fillers can certainly be used for chin augmentation. Fillers such as Voluma or Radiesse can be used very successfully for this purpose. The feel to the touch is firm and not squishy or movable since these fillers are place right over the bone. I hope this helps.
