Hello. I'm looking for a surgeon in Ontario that deals with female hairline lowering and is great at it. I have no hair loss, just a high forehead that I hate. I want to take off 1.5-2 inches with grafting and/or forehead reduction surgery. I'm having trouble finding someone. I'd really prefer Toronto but anywhere in Ontario is fine. Maybe even New York (i have a relative there). But I can't afford to travel and stay far on-top of these costs.

In order to get a large reduction, you will need a tissue expander to put in on top of your hair line to stretch the scalp giving you extra hair baring skin to move your hair line down. There will be a scar that you may want to hide with a transplant.Just lowering to hair line 1 cm does not require a tissue expander. Raising the brow can give you a little more appearance of elevation

There are two options for lowering a female hairline: 1) surgical advancement downward of the hairline using an advancement flap (aka forehead reduction); and 2) traditional grafting.  The decision of one over the other depends on several factors such as length of advancement, shape of hairline, tightness of scalp skin, etc. Hairline lowering surgery/forehead reduction is a very unique surgery designed to lower the hairline and reduce the size of the forehead. Traditionally, the high hairline has been addressed by hair transplantation. Hair grafts are an excellent option and can look very natural here but may require a number of procedures, depending on the density and the amount of lowering required. Hairline lowering (or forehead reduction) is an efficient and effective method of reducing the forehead with immediately noticeable results. The incision is designed to make it the least noticeable possible behind the first row of hairs as they grow through. The incision is performed so that the hairs along the frontal hairline should eventually grow through the scar. In the ideal patient, this scar is virtually undetectable. I recommend an in-person evaluation by a hair transplant surgeon experienced in lowering the female hairline.

Hairline lowering in women is always best done by an experienced hair transplant surgeon. Hair transplantation is more natural that scalp advancement. Look for one of the few full-time hair restoration surgeons with a great reputation that can show you a lot of their work. Hair restoration is a combination of surgery and great artistry.

I suspect that you are a man from the way you asked your question. Hairline lowering in men, is always best done with hair transplants because of the possibility of the appearance of genetic balding that sometimes occurs, even in men who don't think that they have genetic balding.
