I only want the breast gland excised so that the surgery would be covered by OHIP. However, so far the surgeons I've contacted say they that they adopted a new method called Bodytite which is not covered by OHIP. The fat is melted with electromagnetic waves, then extracting via a small hole under the armpit, BUT I believe that this only applies to fat; cannot melt a male breast gland . So then how exactly does the surgeon excise the gland? I dont need bodytite since I only want gyno removed?
Answer: Lipo vs Bodytite vs Surgical Excision Despite the fact that liposuction and bodytite were designed for fat extraction, with specialized suction cannulas the glandular breast tissue can also be extracted. Male or female, the breast gland consists of both glandular and fatty components and reduction of both elements is performed with all techniques of gynecomastia therapy. The goal of the procedure is to have a normal male contour regardless of what's required to reshape the area.

Answer: BodyTite Thank to you for your question. BodyTite is a minimally-invasive body contouring procedure that utilizes radio-frequency assisted lipolysis. It combines two successful technologies into a double-duty procedure that reduces fat while simultaneously tightening the skin without any scarring. Please check with a specialist to see if OHIP covers BodyTite. Always remember to seek treatment from a board-certified dermatologist.

Answer: BodyTite for gynecomastia Dear icecreem, Thank you for your clinical post. Gynecomastia can be glandular adipose tissue or a combination. Traditional lipo or power-assisted liposuction requires a mechanical reduction of the very fibrous glandular tissue and there is often inadequate excision, which will necessitate a perioareolar incision and a formal glandular excision. Occasionally, this is covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan, but not always. BodyTite is a particularly effective device that’s not yet available in the United States, but works on internal radio frequency energy and external non-ablative skin tightening energy. The radio frequency energy can coagulate both fat and glandular tissue, liquefying the gland and fat for easy extraction. BodyTite leads to a tremendous 30-35% contraction over the 12 months following the procedure and can often take a perioareolar or lollipop mastopexy glandular reduction to small minimally visible scars. BodyTite for gynecomastia is an excellent application and should be strongly considered. Much of gynecomastia is not approved by OHIP. You should check with a physician that does OHIP surgery and to find out if this is possible. I hope this information is of some assistance and best of luck. Answer: Gynecomastia If it's really just the Gland removal it can still be performed through a tiny incision in the armpit using a mechanical tool that shreds the gland which can then be suctioned out through that same small hole.
