4 days post-op BA, tape sticking to surgical garment.

Question

For 4 days now, the only pain I've felt was when the tape from my incisions strongly adheres to the bottom band of my surgical garment. It's like the tape is sticky on both sides. Is there something I can stick on top of the tape (like band aids?) to keep the surgical bra off the steri-strips?

Post operative dressings beyond a few days are just routine voodoo medical practice that we adhere to for barely any justifiable reason.  As long as you keep clean, you can pretty much do anything especially on the garment side to keep comfortable.  Always consult with your surgeon.Best Wishes,Nana Mizuguchi

I would suggest that you use a gauze pad between the sticky tape and your support garment. That should work nicely. Best, Dr. Nazarian

Hello,Thank you for your question. For my patients, I advise that they can carefully trim the ends off of their steri strips if they find they are curling and sticking to clothing. Placing gauze on top will also help. I recommend that you contact your Plastic Surgeon's office so that they can advise you or you can be seen in person for replacements.All the best

It sounds like some steri-strips or tape  curled on itself.  Gauze can help, but you might want to have the tape adjusted by your surgeon.  Good luck.

Thanks for the question.Post-operative taping is commonly used in breast procedures. If you are having problems with it sticking to garments I would suggest padding the area with an additional dressing to act as an in-between. Best of luck!

Congratulations on your breast augmentation.If the tape sticking is bothering you, you can place a dry gauze on top of the tape.Please follow your plastic surgeon's post-op instruction.  As all plastic surgeons have different surgical and post-surgical protocol, you should check back with your plastic surgeon as well.Good luck with your recovery.

thank you for your question.  To help prevent the the steri strip from sticking to your bra you can keep a gauze pad over the area.  you can use a band aid but be careful the adhesive on the band aid doesn't pull the steri strip off. Thank you for your clinical post and
this is quite common that the Steri-Strips or tape used over the incision will
adhere to the sports bra or garment that you’re wearing and lift off.  It is important that you protect the incision
and a folded dry gauze with hydrogen peroxide cleaning is generally a
reasonable strategy.  However, each
surgeon is different in their approach to treating post-operative breast
implant scars and a visit to your plastic surgeon would be essential at this
point as they are in the best position to understand the surgery that was
performed and how they like to address those regions.
