2 weeks post revision septorhinoplasty...my nose seems to be getting bigger rather than smaller?

Question

I had revision septorhinoplasty 2 weeks ago with tip and nostril reconstruction (using grafts). I didn't have a splint after surgery, only tape, which was loose and barely hanging on when I got it off 10 days post op. At first I loved my profile, but as the week has gone on, my profile has seemed to get worse, almost like my bridge got higher or something. Any ideas why this might be? Is it because my tip dropped? It's bumming me out!

After revision rhinoplasty the swelling is often worse than after a primary, and takes longer to settle down. I have found that steroid injections into the swollen areas can be quite useful, but they can also be overdone. I would consult with your surgeon.

At two weeks post-op, you are likely very swollen. Best to give it time to settle down. This can take several  months to a year.

Thank you for your question and posting the pictures. From the looks of it, its not uncommon after 2-3 weeks of having more edema around the nasal tip especially. Especially when you had mainly tip and nostril reconstruction. A lot has to do with gravity and that the tip is the lowest part of the nose, hence the swelling tends to persist here longer. I recommend to be patient and allow it time to heal and to discuss this with your PS. Hope this helps!Dr. Miguel
