I got my cast removed on day 6. The whole tip of my nose was shifted to the left and the nostrils were different shapes and sizes. It was still swollen so the doctor said give it some time to heal and the tip will get back into place. It is day 10 and the nose still has different shapes. To me, it looks like one of the nostrils is missing some stitches at the top. I would physically go to see my doctor, except I traveled to get it done.
Answer: Uneven nostrils The left nostril is higher in the soft tissue triangle area. It is unlikely to change on its own. However, it is noticeable on the basal view only. Nobody looks at us in that direction so it is not as concerning. There is still a lot of healing to happen. The shape will change with time as well. The best thing to do is to wait for about 3 months. Then take a look at your frontal view. If that looks good then don't do anything. If the nostrils are clearly crooked or asymmetric on the frontal view then get the nose revised or get a filler to compensate the area of the deviation. RegardsDr. J

Answer: Uneven and swollen nose after surgery Thank you for your question! It is understandable that you are a concerned with what you feel especially with the "uneven nostrils" and a "swollen" nose. The post op swelling is anticipated and every patient is a little different hence the possibility of explaining what you are experiencing.Unfortunately, with the pictures posted, the lack of surgical details and the inability to perform a physical exam it is not possible to provide you with a definitive answer that could be medically sound.Nonetheless, it is way to early to pass a judgement. Usually, a year is required before formulating how your nose will be. Even then, your nose will keep shaping itself and to complement your face for better results in the years to come.My best recommendations at the moment is to be patient, allow nature to take its course and edema subsides for better results. There is no doubt that once the swelling subsides, more definition and shape will be achieved and you should be happier with the results. Also, it is important that you keep communicating with your surgeon and work as a team together to achieve the best results possible.Congratulations on your surgery and please remain positive!Ali Sajjadian, MD FACS

Answer: 10 days after surgery is much too early to make judgments on the final outcome. You indeed have a great deal of swelling in the tip of the nose. This is going to change dramatically but it will take a number of months.

Answer: Post op Swelling Its very common to have swelling in the nasal tip that can distort the nostrils. I would recommend patience over the next few weeks as things heal. Continue to see your plastic surgeon who can evaluate the results as things heal.

Answer: Asymmetry postop You have a very nice appearance from the front with nice symmetry. From the basal view there is asymmetry of the nostril openings but it is best to allow this to heal better and see how the shape changes with time. It may end up being a very minor issue and in addition it will not be a very highly visible issue.
