It is unlikely that the dorsal hump will come back. However, following surgery your body will take charge and heal how it sees fit. Rarely the bones or cartilage or both can have an over aggressive healing response and produce excess tissue. In these cases, minor corrective measures may be needed. This is not the usual outcome. You should not worry for now, and expect that you will enjoy a nice result. In the future if things don't seem quite the way you wish you can discuss your concerns with your doctor.
The bump that was removed is made of bone and cartilage. Once these tissues are removed, they don't grow back. However, during the healing process, it is possible for scar tissue to develop under the skin. This can look like the bump grew back. This is very unusual. One way to reduce the chance of this happening is to have a gentle recovery. Make sure you are resting and not too active. Assuming you had a splint on your nose after surgery, it is important to leave this in place until your surgeon removes it. Following the postoperative instructions will increase the chance of a nice outcome. Good luck and be patient.Dr. Parham Ganchi - NJ Plastic Surgeon
