I have heard mixed feedback on whether I'd be a candidate for a BBL. I am not interested in having a large butt since I have a thin frame and thin legs; I just want it to be rounder/perkier and would ideally like the narrowest part of my waist to be a little lower on my torso. My hips are naturally wide so I don't really want additional widening of my hips. Would I be a candidate for this procedure given my more conservative goals? I am 5'8.5" and 130 lbs, but naturally have little muscle mass.

Answer: Too skinny for BBL? Thank you for your question and photos. Based on your photos and BMI of 19, you do have limited amount of fat to be grafted. To maximize this, you would do best with VASER Hi Def Lipo 360 degrees and fat transfer to the flat, depressed areas of your buttocks. The waist line is between the lowest rib and the top of the pelvic bone. You are tall and have a longer waist line, so it can be maximized a little lower. As a Total Definer surgeon, I do these surgeries with stealth incisions, no visible signs that you had surgery. It is done under intravenous sedation in our certified office surgery suite. Since you are thin, you have one chance to get a great result. See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.

Answer: Too skinny for BBL? Hi! Skinny BBLs are more common the people think. Most patients have some fat to work with, but they should understand that dramatic results are unlikely. There is usually a considerable change as far as shaping the body shape; waist, hips, butt, due to the “rearranging of fat deposits”. This definitely translates into good results as long as expectations are realistic. Gaining weight before surgery and keeping it on, or gaining weight after, can complement and improve results. It is hard to say if you have enough fat to fulfill your expectations, without seeing you in person or better understanding what you are looking for. So I would still suggest gaining some weight just to make sure. Best of luck, Dr. Miguel Mota
