I’ve tried many different hyaluronic fillers for the lips on four different occasions. Each time they last only six weeks and seem to just disappear. I’m looking for a plastic surgeon experienced with Allofill. Is this a viable option for me?
Answer: Lip augmentation Dear Tamara Berg, I perform a lot of lip injections with fillers such as juvederm and it works great. Many times I need to put more in one side than the other to attempt to even out the vermillion border (The red line of the lip). This helps provide more symmetry at times. For patients looking for a more long lasting result, I recommend fat grafting. That is, using your own bodies fat to make your lips naturally look more shapely. The bonus is that the results last many many years. In general, I avoid using permanent prosthesis because I find that the lips are such dynamic and sensitive structures, the end result is not natural. Answer: Lip augmentation question Because the lips are always in motion, it is always best to use something that is very soft when placed in the lips. Hyaluronic acid fillers are probably the best material used to date by far. I can't imagine a hyaluronic acid filler lasting only a few weeks in your lips. That means that your plastic surgeon has not tried to use enough different fillers. In patients who break down Juvederm very quickly, I recommend using Restylane or Revanesse as they can last considerably longer. The majority of our patients have lip augmentation results that last at least 6 months. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City plastic surgery.

Answer: Lip augmentation options I have had great experience using Voluma and lips giving longer lasting results then products like regular JuvédermperhapsYou’ve tried this product without success. You can certainly try allofill. You could also try fat transfer as an option. With fat transfer I recommend grafting conservatively with an intended plan on adding more Overtime until the final desired result has been obtained. To me that seems like a better option though I am Generally more of a fan of staying with fillers.Radiesse is also a great product that lasts longer but it’s not typically recommend it in lips. I’m not sure if anyone has experience with this but I really like that filler for every other area. If someone has good experience using it in… It could be an option. Honestly I don’t know why they don’t recommend using it for lips. Perhaps someone else knows. My best guess is that you’ll find allofill to be disappointing long-term. It may however last longer than Juvéderm.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
