It depends on the type of infection, duration of the infection, site of infection, presence of grafts in the proximity of the infection, presence of implants or permanent sutures next the infection, how soon it is discovered, how fast it is treated, selection of the antibiotics based on culture results and some other factors. In the absence of grafts and foreign material the infections that are discovered early and treated early should not result is a major difference in the outcome of the surgery . Regardless, the ill effects are usually correctable. I assume you have been in touch with your surgeon.
Thank you for your question.Judging by the pictures alone it's hard to determine if you have an infection. Swelling and some redness can be present after surgery- particularly revision cases. If you do have an infection, this potentially could affect the result if leads to resorption of cartilage grafts.I would call your surgeon and have him/her take a look at it. Good luck
It is best for you to make an appointment and see your surgeon. A proper nasal exam is necessary in order to determine if you have an infection and then for treatment purposes if indicated. If detected and treated early, infections after a rhinoplasty do not result in any major complications.
Morgantini, if you feel you have an infection, it is important that you see your surgeon immediately. Your surgeon will be able to prescribe medications to treat the infection. If you seek immediate help, you will not likely suffer any long term consequences. Best wishes.
Although in severe cases an infection can destroy cartilage, most small infections resolve nicely with antibiotics and local treatment. Your infection looks like a small suture abscess, and your surgeon will be able to help you. Good luck!
I am not sure that you actually have an infection Do you have a fever? Is there any other sign besides some swelling and redness? Have you consulted your physician? All of these are important points that are missing in your description. The pictures are not showing a serious infection. All the best,Talmage Raine MD

In my experience it is absolutely possible to do this and it takes about 1 hour to perform in the office under local anesthesia..
Unless you had some direct manipulation of your lip surgically to either lengthen or shorten it, then this is most likely just swelling and will likely resolve in six to eight weeks.
