Thank-you for your question! It is possible that the prominence you are seeing is a part of the lower lateral cartilage if it was fractured. However it seems to be early in the postoperative period and with time it will become obvious it is cartilage, swelling or a skin issue. Have you returned to your original surgeon to discuss this result? Being available for postoperative patients is something that your plastic surgeon should offer. In my own practice, any patient I’ve operated on can come to my office for a full year without incurring a fee. I find that my revision rhinoplasty patients need more intense follow up, because secondary (or tertiary or quaternary) surgery can delay healing time, leaving patients with prolonged swelling. Availability and support of postoperative patients is key to a successful result. If your surgeon is unwilling to discuss this with you, seek a second opinion, making sure to find a surgeon who is board certified. Also, please keep in mind that revision rhinoplasty is usually more technically challenging, so again, seek a surgeon with great expertise in this field.
