I am 2 weeks post op and I’ve been unhappy with my results from the day I had my cast removed. My tip is way too high making me look piggy. The middle part on the bottom of my nose is a lot higher than my nostrils. It always pulls on my top lip making it feel like I’m pulling on something when I move my mouth. Will I ever have full mobility of my top lip again? Will my tip drop at all? My surgeon said he did it like this so that my tip wouldn’t drop again. Help!!!!

Answer: My Tip is To High after Rhinoplasty Dear Sandra, You are very early in the recovery phase and have a lot of swelling that will dissipate over the next few months. As the swelling dissipates you should start to see some subtle changes in your nose that will be beneficial to your final result. As far as your lip is concerned this should resolve itself in the coming weeks. See your surgeon often as he/she knows what your proposed results were, what techniques were used and where you are in the recovery phase. Hopefully your surgeon can provide you some peace of mind as you are healing. See before and after examples in the link below and also in the video below see the patients immediate results and then the nose at one year post surgery to give you a good idea of changes that occur. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
