I want to get rhino next year but I am afraid it will ruin my face (Photo)

Having a rhinoplasty is a big decision that most patients have contemplated for years prior to proceeding with surgery. There are a few important factors. The first is surgeon selection - I would recommend that you seek consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon with a lot of experience. They should have a website with many before and afters. Another important component is the consultation. I prefer to use imaging software so that I can make changes to the patient's nose and arrive at an agreed-upon surgical plan. The third is setting appropriate expectations about what can be obtained. You are a great Candidate for Rhinoplasty, surgical instruments known as rasps and osteotomies (hammer and chisel) are used to reshape the nasal bones by removing the hump and/or narrowing the nasal bone width. These tools are relatively imprecise and their use can lead to contour irregularities, etc. if not used in the proper manner. Recently, a technology that uses sound waves has been developed to contour nasal bones in a precise and far less traumatic way when compared to traditional techniques. Ultrasonic, or Piezo, Rhinoplasty is now the most advanced technology available for minimally traumatic nasal bone reshaping and hump removal during Rhinoplasty. There will be hardly any bruising and swelling which will make the recovery period a lot easier for the patient.

It’s worth going on a few consults to see what each surgeon will do. Many patients have the fear that their nose will be too small but it seldom occurs because most surgeons are quite conservative in their approach.

Hello, thanks for your question and photo. Little nose, upturned tip, and narrow nostrils are not the only outcome from Rhinoplasty. You can get a real nose that fits in your face and fills your expectations. Discuss your goals and concerns with your plastic surgeon, and decide the size and shape that you want. So go on some complimentary consultations with experts that use digital photography to show you what can be accomplished with your nose and how it might be done and then look at photos of similar patients and become fully informed about the desired procedure
