Do I need a circular tummy tuck or extended tummy tuck with Lipo on the back? (photo)

Question

I have gotten some quotes from several doctors and some are recommending a circular tummy tuck and one said that I didn’t need a circular tummy tuck. He stated that a extended tummy tuck with liposuction would suffice for me . I would like some advice on which option would give me the best result.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question and photograph.  Based on your pictures it appears the greatest change would come with a 360 degree incision so that the full trunk and buttock area can be addressed and improved.  Hope this helps.

Great question! Understand that liposuction is a volume only procedure it will only take care of any excess fat. Only with a belt lipectomy can all the excess skin be removed. It looks like you have undergone some massive weight loss therefore the best procedure for you would be this belt lipectomy /  circumferential tummy tuck which will improve your body contour. If you have loose skin that extends to your love handles and lower back, then a body lift (circumferential tummy tuck) may be best for you. It's difficult to tell however based on these photos, an exam in person is the only way to know for sure.Best wishes,Dr.Bruno

Hi and thanks for your question. Based on your photos I think you had bariatric surgery and upper body lift. I can not see the skin quality of your lower back. But I can say that generally the patient who needs circular upper body lift , also needs circular lower body lift. So I recommend circular tummy tuck for you and this operation can be combine liposuction for your lower back . This combination give good result for your abdominal area.Good luck

Abdominoplasty usually includes liposuction of the hips. The surgeon can suction down to the operating table and around the corner for a short distance. Most patients are happy with this, as it keeps the operating time, scarring and cost all in a reasonable range. However, especially in cases of massive weight loss, when there is a great deal of skin laxity over the lower back and hips, it is necessary to do a so-called circular tummy tuck. This operation usually begins with the patient lying on their stomach to allow for removal of the back tissue, and then continues on to the rest of the tuck once the patient has been turned onto their back. This is a much longer operation with greater risks, scarring and cost. All the best.

based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a TT. Full tummy tuck should tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. Te recomiendo que para dar el primer paso, te enfoques en que tu IMC se encuentre por debajo de 25, esto te dara un mejor resultado y tu recuperación será más fácil. Después de eso, se puede analizar si necesitas una Abdominoplastia circunferencial, pero debes de tener en mente que la abdomino extendida si la deben de realizar.

Looking at your photos I might say that you´ll be a great candidate to get an entire back, waist and flanks liposuction, with BBL, and tummy tuck, this is because all the extra skin located in this areas plus your abdominal muscle needs to be repaired.
Before all this, of course, you need to get a complete medical evaluation and laboratory exams to check everything is fine. Also please try to find a board certified plastic surgeon, remember that your safety, always, is going to be first.
