Mole shaved. Should I be cleaning the wound directly?

I just got a mole shaved off on my face yesterday and I woke up with the bandage soaked in blood and it all dried up underneath, I used a pad and alcohol to clear around the area and put ointment pollysporin and a bandage on top but I'm wondering if I should be cleaning the wound directly as I don't want it to get infected, but also if I put rubbing alcohol on it it will hurt a lot.

I appreciate your concern.  Of course it is impossible to tell whether something is infected from a picture alone and I recommend that you see the provider who removed the lesion to gleam his/her opinion.  Having said this, the redness I see around the biopsy site may not...

You should not shave a pigmented lesion.  If it is a melanoma, God forbid, you won't know what the actual depth of the lesion is and may be denied the proper treatment because the initial biopsy is often the only time you will get to find the correct depth of the lesion.Also shaving moles can ...

It appears to be a regular harmless mole but it is so easy to have those ugly big moles removed under local with only a pinprick of anesthesia.

I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Moles can be removed with laser, radiowave or shave. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Unless you are a board certified surgeon it would be unwise to attempt to do this by yourself. Please book in with your local doctor for an examination with a view to removal.
