Is there a way to treat tape burns that I've had for over 2 months from a tummy tuck or is it permanent?

Tape burns are superficial and usually heal without any blemishes. In darker complected individuals a bleaching cream might be a some benefit if hyperpigmentation is a component.

Hard to say without seeing a picture. Being that said I have never met a tape burn that would not heal without a scar but it just takes a long time. If it is indeed a tape burn only it really should heal. Some people with sensitive skin will have some of the skin pulled off by the tape. It is not really a burn but more of a wound. Again, hard for me to accurately comment without a photo.

Reactions to tape adhesive usually resolve with time.  At times the can be treated with bleaching agents if they are dark or lasers if they are red.  I would ask your Plastic Surgeon what he/she prefers.  But remember they usually resolve on their own.

Sorry this happened to you. I too have had patients that have had this problem. They typically will go on to heal fairly well. Be patient. It takes a full year for scar to mature. Avoid sunlight, perform massage, and possibly incorporate silicone sheeting to help. Make sure your PS is formally involved in your scar management as well. Good luck. Gaurav 

This is an uncommon but almost always temporary thing. I would expect to start seeing very gradual improvement from this point forward. Patience is always a challenge but your body's healing process will keep making things better for an entire year.Best,Dr. Pyle

Occasionally I will have patients who have blisters and irritations from tape. Generally they will settle down but I can take many months. It also depends on your skin tight. If you have more pigment in your skin you may see increase or decrease pigmentation in the area of the burn. Ultimately however it may improve. Bleaching agents may be helpful.
