I have lipedema and can't afford the cost ($20K) of going to Germany where there are surgeons (Dr. Stutz, being one) that have been doing this technique for years. Most doctors are not even familiar with Lipedema and think diet and excercise will fix it. Its not that, and I am so tired of the pain, itching, fat growth, etc. Plus, with an already compromised lymphatic system, there is great skill needed to perform this surgery.

Thank you for your question.  As lipedema becomes more readily recognized as a distinct fat cell issue, and patients no longer have to reiterate "no, lipedema, not lymphedema" liposuction as a treatment will only grow in prevalence.  In general, traditional tumescent liposuction can be lymph sparing, by avoiding the major lymphatic basins in the body, and using a delicate technique.  Traditional tumescent liposuction uses tapered cannulas that help push arteries, veins, and lymphatics away from the area being suctioned.
