Fillers such as Restylane Silk, Belotero, or Juvederm can work well to treat lines around the mouth, but the best first option is laser resurfacing or deep peels to induce collagen production. Superficial radiofrequency devices and microneedling can help as well and are less invasive. I suggest going to an experienced cosmetic dermatologist with expertise in lasers and fillers. Best, Dr. Emer
Belotero is a very good filler for fine dermal lines on the upper lip and around the eyes. It is more suitable for thin lines as opposed to thicker Juvederm. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian
I would recommend Belotero for your "smoker's lines" . The awesome thing about Belotero is how superficially it can be injected making it perfect for small fine lines around the mouth. Juvederm would give your lips more volume, not necessarily softening the wrinkles or lines the way Belotero would.
Both Juvederm and Belotero are great options for smoker's lines. However, if the lines are very superficial then Belotero would most likely be the best treatment.
Belotero is preferred in our practice for fine smoker's lines. The new Ultherapy transducers are also very good for this problem along with laser resurfacing using fractional technology. You may benefit from one or more of these technologies to get the outcome you are desiring.
Although Juvederm UP XC® and Belotero Balance® both contain the same active ingredient, hyaluronic acid (a normal component of skin, like collagen), Belotero Balance® has been formulated to be a thinner viscosity, so it can be injected through a smaller needle and enables a more precise filling of the smallest, most superficial wrinkles, such as those "smokers lines" around the lips or mouth.
Hi fama - Belotero Balance is made of a substance that is made by your body naturally, called hyaluronic acid (HA). HA provides hydration, and "plumpness" to skin, which is more apparent in younger individuals. Over time, genetics, sun exposure, and lifestyle choices such as smoking can thin out the skin and decrease its elasticity and the amount of HA in the skin, resulting in fine lines. Smoking can increase your risk of lines around your mouth because of the repeating "pursing" motion made when smoking. There are several other HA products out there, but Belotero is made in a unique way, which allows it to smoothly integrate into your skin. It is the only HA product that is meant to be injected into the very top layer of skin to provide smoothing for those etched-in lines. Please see a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who can help you achieve the youthful look that you're hoping for!
Both Belotero and Juvederm can work well for treating smoker's lines. Belotero is sometimes better for very fine lines as opposed to Juvederm. Beyond fillers, laser treatments and neuromodulators can help minimize smoker's lines as well.
Belotero is excellent for the fine lines around the mouth, crows feet and even in the forehead. It is not great at filling the deeper nasolabial folds, marionette lines and lips. For those concerns Juvederm is king.As far as comfort of injection, Belotero is injected much closer to the surface and hurts a lot more. In my practice, I will numb the patient to minimize these complaints. Durability - Each person is different and both fillers will last for varying amounts of time from person to person, but Juvederm lasts significantly longer.P.S. Many techniques can be used to help smoker's lines. Smoker's lines usually occur from a combination of volume loss and repeated movements of the mouth such as pursing of the lips and smoking. The filler used for smoker's lines depends primarily on the depth of the lines, the amount of volume loss in the around the mouth, and the shape of your lips. If the lines are relatively superficial and there is not much volume loss of the lips, Belotero is an excellent filler in this area. It can be placed superficially in the skin without creating a blue discoloration called the "Tyndall effect" which can occur with other fillers. If there is a large amount of volume loss in the lips and around the mouth Restylane or Juvederm can be placed deeper to add shape to the lips and revolumize this area. If there are deep vertical lip lines fractional laser resurfacing can be helpful to minimize the appearance of these lines.
Late swelling (> 1 week after injection) and certainly at 1 month after injection of a HA filler is unusual and can be related to granuloma formation or FB reaction or less likely, an infection.Seek immediate guidance from the injecting physician.
For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest...
Belotero is an excellent and safe non animal derived hyaluronic acid filler. It is derived from bacteria.
