Health of the individual is more important than age to determine the candidacy for liposuction.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
Age isn't so much a factor as is health and medical history. A personal consultation with a plastic surgeon who is experienced can determine if your mother is a good candidate for her wanted procedure. Have her ask lots of question to determine the right strategy for her.
There is no specific age at which a patient is not a good candidate for liposuction. The overall health of the patient is more important as well as the expectations of the procedure.
This comes up often in our practice. If someone is in good health, I don't typically restrict on age -- especially if in good health -- since we do all our liposuction under tumescent anesthesia. However, someone of that age I typically try to assess their desires and consider if there are other options. If they have any health issues, the answer would be no. I hope this helped. Best, Dr. Emer.
If you are healthy it can be done. I would be concerned with skin tone, most older patients have skin laxity that does not do well with lipo.
While age itself is not a specific contraindication, I think that someone in her 80's is someone that I would not perform liposuction on.
Depending on the area that she chooses to have treated it would be simpler to just have a Cool Sculpting consult and see if she is a candidate. The abdomen can be treated in 1 hour. there is no incision and you can leave the office after the procedure.
Thank you for your liposuction question.Every surgeon has her/his own approach,I let my patients remove the garment to bathe/shower and wash the garment.Otherwise I urge them to wear it for a full 2 weeks and then use another kind of support garment if they wish, e.g. Spanx for another 2-4 weeks...
Dear Anita,,It would be helpful to have the pictures to give you more personalized answer. However, generally speaking there are many options to make the face look more sleek.-Typically small canula liposcution can be used to remove the unwanted fat but it needs to be done very carefully.-Botox...
To reduce your waist circumference, liposuction can help as long as you don't have loose skin or weakened ab muscles (in which case a tummy tuck would be better achieve your goals). This will give you an hourglass figure.
