Is it safe to massage the lump in my lips after fillers? (Photos)

It is fine to gently massage the lump.  You will get the best results if you massage when your lips are warm, so for example, when you are in the shower.  Massage for 30-45 seconds.  You may need to do this for 2-3 days in a row to get the bump to completely resolve.You can also follow up with your injector.  They may have a laser that can warm it more completely and, therefore, get the bump to smooth out more quickly.  If you are experiencing any warmth, pain or drainage for this area, it should be looked at immediately.

Light massage should not be harmful, but I suggest you return to your injecting physician for an exam. Some lip fillers are more palpable (easier to feel) than others. I like Volbella because it feels the most natural to the patient. Best Wishes, Maurice Vick MD

It's not uncommon to feel a lump after lip filler treatment and this will usually resolve on its own over the first few days to weeks after treatment. That being said, gentle massage can expedite the process. If the lump still remains, I would followup with your injector as in some cases the lump may need to be treated with hyaluronidase. 

Having lumps is common after lip filler. It may be secondary to inflammation versus accumulation of HA filler.  It is fine to massage the area. Give it two weeks after the procedure for the inflammation to resolve.
