Is it too late to use silicone sheeting for 6 months post op?

I'm six months breast augmentation post op now and my scars are still read and noticeable, is it too late to use a silicone sheeting? I've been using Mederma the first few moths but I guess it did not work on me. If you think silicon sheeting would work, what brand would you recommend? I've heard about Cica Care.

Silicone gel sheeting is best on scars that are thick and ropey.  So best to discuss with your surgeon as there are multiple options available.  Ask him/her if your would benefit from cordran tape.  It's prescription.

The best way to assess and give
true advice would be an in-person exam.

Silicone gel sheeting is fine to start now. I like sheeting or Scar Guard with has two other ingredients known to have scar altering potential.

Silicone sheeting is best used for elevated or thickened scars. It can be used at anytime but the sooner the better. You mentioned that your scars are red. Since you are less than a year this is normal and I would not be concerned. All scars take about 12 months for the redness to fade. Most people feel that the silicone sheeting helps by increased hydration to the scar. This helps to flatten the scar. It will not have any effect on pigmentation. Most any silicone aheeting will be beneficial but you need to wear it all the time except when bathing.

You can try the silicone sheeting it is not too late.  I have heard good things about Embrace but do not use it in my practice.  It does take a year or so for the color to leave the scar.  If your scar is raised or thick, speak to your plastic surgeon to see what your options are for reducing the thickness.
