I did my first microneedling with PRP about 2 months ago. I had intended to continue with another round a months later, but then did not end up having the money to do so. I want to schedule another session, but am I essentially starting all over? Also, my face was so extremely red for about 2 weeks after and I was embarrassed to even go out In public. It couldn’t pass for a sunburn...it was too red for anyone to believe that. I’m scared of a repeat. What can I do?
Answer: Microneedling results and aftercare--add prp and lasers Yes, you can still get benefits from microneedling if you lengthen the time between treatments. I recommend following up with your Doctor about after care following your treatment. We suggest all patients follow up with facials like Silk Peel Dermalinfusion to hydrate, exfoliate and provide the skin with antioxidants. PDT therapy can calm inflammation. Sun protection is also essential. I always combine microneedling with prp and lasers to get the best outcomes. We do treatments every 3-6 weeks. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Microneedling with PRP Thank you for your question. Microneedling in combination with PRP causes microinjuries to the surface of the skin, which will stimulate collagen production. This is an excellent treatment for anyone who would like to improve appearance of acne scarring, pore size reduction, skin tightening, as well as fine lines and wrinkling. We recommend a minimum of 3 sessions spaced at about 4-6 weeks; however, if you do wait longer this should not effect your results. The sunburn effect should not persist longer than just a few days post treatment. For best results please consult with a board certified dermatologist with experience in Microneedling with PRP. Best of luck to you.

Answer: The delayed time will not decrease the benefit. Delaying your treatment will not decrease the benefit of each individual microneedling session. The redness is unusual and should resolve within 12-24 hours after the procedure. Some microneedling pens irritate or "scratch" and damage the skin more than others. The only FDA approved microneedling pen is the SkinPen and I would request that device in order to minimize skin trauma at your next treatment.

Answer: Lower Downtime Options Thanks for your question and posting pictures. The increased timing between microneedling with PRP treatments will not effect the results of each treatment. Most of our patients want to avoid the associated downtime with microneedling. In my opinion, the potential results from microneedling and dermarolling are oversold by providers that don't have better options. Microneedling usually causes unnecessary trauma to the surface of the skin. It really depends what you are trying to solve. It could be as simple as a series of gentle chemical peels or IPL PhotoFacials. If you were going after acne scars, microneedling with PRP alone usually won't yield the best results. I would encourage you to look for a medical office with lots of options, excellent reviews and experience in whatever you are trying to solve. Make sure there is a physician present that is available to consult and ask questions. I hope this helps.

Answer: Vampire Facial Hi,the goal of any microneedling is to increase collage, elastin, decrease hyperpigmentation, and treat small wrinkles. You still benefited from the first time, and you will accumulate the effects once you do more sessions. I prefer to start with 3 months in a row, to get collagen production increased. It takes 4 weeks or so to increase that collagen levels, it will start breaking down, hopefully not as fast.As far as the redness, that is unusual. I mostly do vampire Facials which are PRP micro-needling, and with that redness goes away in 15 hours or so.
